How many security guards for a wedding on the peninsula?

Published June 2026 · 4 min read · By St Tropez Security

It is the first question we are asked, and the honest answer is: it depends — but on precise criteria, not on guesswork. Here is how we size a wedding detail on the Gulf.

The starting point: the guest ratio

The working baseline in our trade sits at around one agent per 50 to 75 guests at a private family event. A 120-guest wedding in an enclosed estate therefore starts at two or three agents. But that ratio is only a floor: the layout produces the real number.

The five factors that change the detail

The classic sizing mistakes

The first: handing security to the caterer's staff or to doormen without a professional card — beyond the real risk, it is illegal, and your liability as organiser is engaged. The second: sizing for the ceremony and forgetting the end of the night, when 80% of incidents occur after midnight. The third: neglecting coordination — excellent agents who have not been briefed on the guest list, the site plan and each supplier's role lose most of their value.

What a serious quote must contain

Be wary of a figure given over the phone without a visit. A serious detail is built after a site survey and states in writing: the number of agents and their posts, the exact hours (including setup and teardown), the agreed instructions, and the company's credentials — CNAPS authorisation, professional cards, insurance. On the peninsula, our event security detail also integrates coordination with private chauffeurs: arrivals, departures and transfers set to the same brief.
